Patches > Patch Template > Add/Remove (applies to a Patch Template Object, as created by Patches > Patch Template > Convert To, that is selected in the Model Manager) - alters a patch template object by filling holes, deleting patches, and subdividing patch edges.
The Fill Holes option inserts a single patch or patches that match the surrounding patch structure. This is useful in closing an open end of a patch template before applying it to a closed polygonal model.
The Delete Patches option removes selected patches from the template. This can help eliminate problem areas of a template. It is also useful for deleting part of a patch structure before mirroring.
The Subdivide Edge option separates a patch edge into two parts. This affects an entire layer of patches by subdividing all connected patches in a row, similar to the Zip Patch Layers operation.
To help you visualize your results, you can view either the patches or the patch edges only.
Mode group - controls the behavior of the mouse in the Viewing Area:
Fill Holes radio button - inserts a single patch or patches that match the surrounding patch structure. This is useful in closing an open end of a patch template before applying it to a closed polygonal model. Click the edge of a hole -- new patches are inserted instantly.
Delete Patches radio button - Use the mouse to select certain patches for deletion, or Ctrl-Click to unselect patches for deletion, then press the Del key.
Subdivide Edge radio button - (functional on non-closed objects that have a natural boundary) Use the mouse to click a natural boundary and divide the adjoining row of patches into two rows.
Display group - specifies what is shown in the Viewing Area:
Patches radio button - a representation of the patch structure resembling the underlying object.
Edges radio button - a representation of the patch structure resembling a fish net.
OK button - saves the edited template object to the Model Manager and closes the dialog.
Cancel button - terminates the dialog without saving changes to the patch template object.
