A point cover is a points-only representation of a wrap, polygon, or CAD object.
Edit > Create Point Cover creates a points-only object (with a -pts suffix in the Model Manager) of the selected polygon or CAD object. The original object remains in the Model Manager.
In a point cover of a CAD model, points are added to every triangle so that planes are readily visible in point form. (Unlike Edit > Phase > Point Phase, this function does not consider the number or position of vertices in the original polygon object.)
The parameters of the Edit > Create Point Cover dialog are:
Target Point Count (default is the current number of points in the model) - specifies the number of points that will exist in the resulting point cover.
Combine Objects (checkbox; applicable when more than one object is selected in the Model Manager) - specifies whether to create a single point cover object comprised of all selected objects. If multiple objects are selected but Combine Objects is not checked, an individual point cover object is created for each selected object.
Object Name (text field; applicable when Combine Objects is checked) - specifies the name of the single point cover object that will be created in the Model Manager.
To create one or more point covers, select an object in the Model Manager, or Ctrl-click the name or more than one object, and select Edit > Create Point Cover.
