Curves > Edit Vertices edits the position of vertices on curve lines, as well as fixes and unfixes individual vertices or whole curve lines.
A typical first step is to check the Display Edit Vertices checkbox so that individual control points are shown as yellow dots.
A green dot on a curve line is an endpoint of a curve segment. An endpoint cannot move when neighbors are dragged (but it can move if you explicitly drag it).
A red dot on a curve is a fixed control point of a curve segment. Like an endpoint, a fixed control point cannot move when neighbors are dragged (but it can move if you explicitly drag it).
A red curve line is a fixed curve line. No point on a fixed curve can move when its neighbors are dragged (but a single fixed point can move if you explicitly drag it).
An orange curve line is an unfixed line. Every control point on an orange line moves (subject to the Influence field) when a neighbor is dragged.
The controls are:
Operation group - controls the behavior of this function:
radio buttons -
Move Vertices radio button - allows any vertex to be dragged to a new location. Neighboring control points also move according to their colors. If no polygon corner exists at the new location, the vertex snaps back to its original position.
Fix On Movement checkbox - a green, unfixed point becomes red (fixed) after it is dragged.
Influence field - specifies the degree to which dragging a single point affects neighboring control points.
Delete Curves radio button - deletes any curve segment that you click
Fix/Unifx Vertices radio button - click a vertex to fix it (make it red) or Ctrl-Click a vertex to unfix it (return to green or yellow).
Fix/Unfix Curves radio button - click a curve segment to fix it (to fix every individual control point on that segment) or Ctrl-Click a curve segment to unfix it.
Split/Merge Curves radio button - click a point on a curve to add an unfixed endpoint there; Ctrl-click a manually-added unfixed endpoint to remove it.
• Display Edit Vertices checkbox - specifies whether individual control points on curve lines are indicated by yellow dots.
OK button - saves modified vertices to the object in the Model Manager and closes the dialog.
Cancel button - terminates the dialog without saving modified vertices.
Next >> button (appears only when this function is called through the Polygons > Sharpening Wizard) - advances the sharpening wizard to the next step (Sharpen > Extend Tangent Lines or Sharpen > Sharpen Polygons).
