A curve line (not the same as a Curve Object) is a constrained contour line.
The Curves menu appears in the Points Phase and the Polygon Phase (when a points object or a polygon object is active in the Model Manager) for the purpose of creating constrained contour lines on the object.
Create / Modify Curves - allows free-hand drawing
and manipulation of curve lines on a point or polygon object.
Extract Curves - analyzes a polygon object’s geometry to detect areas of higher angularity, allows override of angularity detection, and draws orange “dependent curve” lines that trace the object’s angularity.
Merge Curve Corners - connects the two ends of a single curve line, or attaches the end of one curve line to another.
Project Curves - (usually required after Curves
> Create / Modify Curves) closes any gaps between
curve lines and the object’s surface by projecting the curve lines onto
the surface.
Resample Curves - changes the number of vertices in a curve line.
Edit Vertices - edits the position
of vertices on curve lines, as well as fixes and unfixes individual vertices
or whole curve lines.
Fit Curves - adjusts a curve line by decreasing its number of control points and/or tension.
Unfix Vertices - unfixes all vertices in all curve lines on the object.
Curves to Boundaries - converts all curve lines to boundary lines.
Create Curve Object - converts a curve line on a point or polygon object to a Curve Object and stores it in the Model Manager.
Delete All Curves - removes all curve lines from the active object.
