To Promote a point is to make it immovable except by "manual" movement functions.
Promotable: The point that lies at the intersection of any two lines. |
To Promote a line is to convert it to a panel-demarcation line. Promotable: • Black candidate lines (before patches exist) • Black patch lines (when patches exist) |
To Constrain a point is to make it absolutely immovable.

To Constrain a line is to make it immovable (and convert it to Red). Constrainable:

The controls are:
Local group - controls the affect of the cursor on points and lines that you click in the Viewing Area.
Promote / Demote Lines radio button - specifies that the Click and Ctrl-Click in the Viewing Area promotes and demotes lines.
Promote / Demote Points radio button - specifies that the Click and Ctrl-Click in the Viewing Area promotes and demotes points.
Constrain / Unconstrain Lines radio button - specifies that the Click and Ctrl-Click in the Viewing Area constrains and unconstrains lines.
Constrain / Unconstrain Points radio button - specifies that the Click and Ctrl-Click in the Viewing Area constrains and unconstrains points.
Global group -
Lines and Points checkboxes - specify what the radio buttons have effect on. The radio buttons are:
Demote All radio button - orange becomes black
Constrain All radio button - orange becomes red
Unconstrain All radio button - red becomes orange
Execute button - demotes, constrains, or unconstrains lines and/or points according to the radio buttons and checkboxes.
OK button - saves the state of the lines and points, and closes the dialog.
Cancel button - closes the dialog without saving the new states of the lines and points.
