To Promote a point is to make it immovable except by "manual" movement functions.

 

Promotable:

The point that lies at the intersection of any two lines.

To Promote a line is to convert it to a panel-demarca­tion line.

Promotable:

•   Black candidate lines (before patches exist)

•   Black patch lines (when patches exist)

To Constrain a point is to make it absolutely immovable.

 

Constrainable:

  • The point that lies at the intersection of any two lines, except when one of the lines is the outside edge of a Contour Patch.

To Constrain a line is to make it immovable (and convert it to Red).

Constrainable:

  • Black patch lines (when patches exist)

  • Orange panel-demarcation lines

after Contours > Detect Contours, [with Regions and Separators, and orange (unextendable) and Yellow (extendable) contour lines within the separators.]

To Promote a line is to convert it to a panel-demarcation line.

Promotable:

  • Black patch lines (when Regular Patches exist in the Regions). You cannot promote the black line that represents a side of a Contour Patch.

To Constrain a contour line is to make it immovable (and convert it to Red).

 

Constrainable:

  • Black patch lines (when patches exist)

  • Yellow extendable lines, whether extended or not.

  • Orange unextendable contour lines.
