CAD > Trim with CAD Body (selectable when two or more CAD objects exist in the Model Manager, and one of them is selected) deletes the part of a master CAD object that lies outside (or inside) its intersection with a tool CAD object. The master and tool must be aligned in advance.
The active object in the Model Manager is the master object, and must be closed.
Select Tool CAD Object group - specifies an object in the Model Manager that will serve as the tool object.
Tool CAD Object (a list of the other CAD objects) - specifies an object in the Model Manager that will serve as the tool object.
Switch Tool CAD Object Normal Direction checkbox - If the tool object’s normal direction is “outward”, this function deletes the part of the master object this lies outside its intersection with the tool object. If the tool object’s normal direction is “inward”, this function deletes the part of the master object that lies inside its intersection with the tool object.
OK button - saves changes to the master object and closes the dialog.
Cancel button - terminates the dialog without saving changes to the master object.
Apply button - generates a preview of the results.
To trim a CAD object with the body of another:
Make sure a CAD object is active in the Model Manager.
Click CAD > Trim with CAD Body. A dialog appears.
From the drop-down menu, choose the tool object you wish to use.
Evaluate the arrow on the tool object. It points in a direction to indicate whether the inside or outside parts of the master will be deleted. If necessary, change the direction by pressing Switch Tool CAD Object Normal Direction.
Click Apply to preview the results. If necessary, return to Step 3 or Step 4.
Click OK to accept the results, or click Cancel to exit without making any changes.
