CAD > Modify Mesh Resolution. This application calculates a polygon mesh for every CAD object that is loaded. The mesh is not part of the CAD object, and is not visible unless the Mesh Edges checkbox is activated in the Primitives Manager, but it is used internally by certain functions on the Analysis menu. Modify Mesh Resolution increases the triangle count of the “hidden” polygon mesh, which may lead to better results from Analysis functions when the CAD object has small features that are not represented by patches. This function does not modify the CAD object itself.
The mesh resolution parameters are:
Mesh Resolution group -
Current/Fine slider - (five degrees of increase ranging from “Current” (no increase) to “Fine” (maximal increase)) - specifies a degree of increase in the mesh resolution.
Advanced Options checkbox - specifies whether the following controls appear instead of the Current/Fine slider:
Face Tolerance field - specifies the tolerance of a mesh triangle to the CAD model geometry.
Boundary Tolerance decimal field - specifies the tolerance of a mesh edge on a face boundary to the CAD boundary.
Grid Spacing decimal field - specifies the spacing of grid lines in relatively flat areas, such as planes.
Unnamed group -
• Specify Max Edge Length checkbox - activates the following controls:
• Max Edge Length decimal field - specifies the maximum length of any edge of any triangle.
• Max Triangles - specifies the maximum number of triangles in the CAD object.
OK button - saves the higher-resolution polygon mesh and closes the dialog.
Cancel button - closes the dialog without saving changes to the resolution.
Apply button - applies the higher resolution to the mesh and leaves the dialog open for further increase.
