
Boundaries > Create/Fit Hole cuts a perfect hole, converts a jagged hole to a perfect hole, resizes a hole, and places a natural boundary on the new edge.
Action radio buttons - specifies the primary action of this function:
Create Hole radio button - a perfect hole will be cut at a location that you select on the object in the Viewing Area.
Fit Hole radio button - a jagged hole that you select in the Viewing Area will be refined to a round hole. Typically, use Fit Cylinder instead.
Fit Cylinder radio button - this function converts a jagged hole with or without cylindricity to a perfectly round hole with no cylindricity, or changes the radius of a round hole with or without cylindricity to a hole without cylindricity. This function is the same as Fit Hole, but also accomodates holes with cylindricity.
Radius field (a parameter of Create Hole, Fit Hole, and Fit Cylinder) - specifies the radius of the resulting round hole.
Adjust Normal checkbox - restores the normal of the hole to its previous position.
Tangent Projection checkbox - ?
View Arrow checkbox (selectable after you click the location of a hole in the Viewing Area) - specifies whether to superimpose an arrow to indicate the axis of the hole.
Arrow Size field (if View Arrow is checked) - controls the visible length of the Arrow.
Axis Datum group - controls the creation of a datum on the axis of the hole, similar to Tools > Datums > Create Datums.
Datum Name field - specifies the name of the Axis Datum. This name will appear in the object’s Datums subfolder in the Model Manager
Create button - creates the datum. Datum Name appears immediately in a Datums folder under this object in the Model manager, even if you never press Execute to create or fit the hole.
Clear button - (clickable after you select the location of a new hole or click an existing hole in the Viewing Area, and before Execute is pressed) removes the selection of a hole or hole location and prepares for the creation or fitting of a new hole.
Execute button - creates the hole whose position is selected in the Viewing Area, or fits the hole or cylinder that is selected in the Viewing Area.
Drag/Rotate Mode group -
Arrow - describes the effect of Ctrl-Left-Drag on the arrowhead. To change this effect, press the [SpaceBar] during the creation of a hole or the fitting of a hole or cylinder. [SpaceBar] toggles the effect between:
Rotate Circle Plane - the arrow becomes a control stick and the
Modify Circle Parameters - the arrow becomes a control stick that adjusts the elliptical-ness of the circle.
Center - describes the effect of Ctrl-Left-Drag on the circle center. To change this effect, press [SpaceBar] during the creation of a hole or the fitting of a hole or cylinder. [SpaceBar] toggles the effect between:
Shift Circle Plane -
Drag Circle in Plane - the center point becomes a handle that drags the circle moves in all directions of the same plane on which it lies.
OK button - saves all modifications to the object and closes the dialog.
Cancel button - removes all modifications to the object and terminates the dialog.
Reset button - removes all modifications to the object since the function was started, but leaves the dialog open for further hole-making.
Keystrokes and Mouse Actions in the Viewing Area
Left-Click - place the center of a new hole on the polygon surface, or select the green border of a hole or cylindrical hole to be refined.
Ctrl-Left-Drag - change normal by dragging arrowhead.
“r” - reset normal
“a” - same as Adjust Normal checkbox
“c” - same as Clear button
[SpaceBar] - switch “Drag/Rotate Mode”
Middle-Drag - rotate object about rotation center
Wheel - zoom in and out
Alt-Middle-Drag - pan
