Boundaries > Create Curve Object creates a Curves object from one or more boundaries on a polygon object.
Select Boundaries group - controls the name of the Curves object to be generated and choice of one or more boundaries whose shape will be used to generate that Curves object.
Name field - indicates the name of the Curves object that will be saved to the Model Manager. The default name is generated by the application but can be changed by the user.
Select All button - selects all boundaries on the object for conversion to a single Curves object. Another method of selecting boundaries for conversion is to click one or more on the object in the Viewing Area.
Clear All button - un-selects all boundaries on the object.
Control Points group - controls the degree to which the Curves object conforms to the shape of the original boundary(s).
Control Point Layout dropdown (affects all boundaries on the object) - specifies a quantity and spacing of control points on all boundaries:
• Adaptive - sets the number of control points within the boundaries based on the length of the longest boundary. Enter a value into one of the two following fields; the other is calculated automatcially:
Maximum Control Points field - specifies the number of control points of the longest boundaries. Based on this number, the control points are equally spaced from one another, Control Points Spacing is calculated automatically.
Control Point Spacing field - specifies a fixed distance between control points.
Tension decimal field - specifies a degree of elasticity on the proposed Curves object.
Use Crease Angle checkbox and Crease decimal field - specifies the degree to which triangle intersection angle must be maintained in the proposed Curves object.
Tolerance-based - establishes the position of the proposed Curves object based on the Error Tolerance field and the curvature of the original boundary. It inserts more control points in regions of high curvature and fewer control points in regions of low curvature. The fields that are specific to Tolerance-based layout are:
Error Tolerance decimal field - specifies the maximum distance that the proposed Curves object may diverge from the original boundary.
Tension decimal field - specifies a degree of elasticity on the proposed Curves object.
Use Crease Angle checkbox and Crease decimal field - specifies the degree to which triangle intersection angle must be maintained in the proposed Curves object.
Constant - establishes an absolute number of control points in each line of the Curves object, regardless of length or curvature of the original boundary. The fields that are specific to Constant layout are:
Control Points integer field - specifies the exact number of control points in each line that comprises the Curves object.
Tension decimal field - specifies a degree of elasticity on the proposed Curves object.
Use Crease Angle checkbox and Crease decimal field - specifies the degree to which triangle intersection angle must be maintained in the proposed Curves object.
Diagnostic indicators group - reports details about the original boundary lines (not the resulting Curves object).
Minimum Boundary Length indicator - the length of the shortest boundary line.
Maximum Curve Length indicator - the length of the longest boundary line.
Average Curve Length indicator - the length of the average boundary line.
OK button - converts the proposed Curves object to a real Curves object in the Model Manager and closes the dialog.
Cancel button - terminates the dialog.
Next button - converts the proposed Curves object to a real Curves object in the Model Manager, and leaves the dialog open for the creation of another Curves object.
