Manual Mesh Editing - Create Node(s)

NOTE:  You can create multiple nodes without closing the dialog by selecting the pin icon in the top right hand corner.

For a generated mesh you will have three options for creating a node(s).  To create a node right click on Mesh and select Create Node from the Edit menu to open the dialog.

When you open the Meshing - Create Node dialog box the default coordinates of the highlighted point is the center of the mesh's coordinate box (Forming Suite will create a box from the maximum X-Y-Z values, and create a point in the center of this box).

The first option is to create node on mesh.  Select the Node on mesh radio button to activate this function.  To create the node click anywhere on the mesh and the point will be highlighted in orange and press OK to create the node.  You can set the node selection filter if you want to snap to a node, or you can set the point selection filter if you want to snap to points that have already been created.

The second option is to create node at center of gravity of nodes.  Select the Node at C.O.G. of nodes radio button to activate this function.  Select two or more nodes and the created node will be at the center of gravity of the selected nodes.  You can select multiple nodes by holding the Ctrl key.  You can also window select and the node will be created at the C.O.G. of all the selected nodes.  Select the Remove Last button to deselect and remove from list the last selected element.

The third option is to create node by inputting the desired X-Y-Z coordinates.  The node location will be shown in orange and move as you edit the X-Y-Z coordinates.  Select the Manual radio button to activate this function.  Press OK to create the node once you are satisfied with the position.

NOTE:  You can only create a node that is not on the mesh by using the X-Y-Z coordinates.

For an imported mesh you will have four options for creating a node(s).  You will be able to do the three options described above as well as create node on point.  You can only create a node on point for imported mesh because you can only create a point on an imported mesh and not a generated one.  To create a node on point you will need to create a point first (See Mesh - Create Point).  Next select the Node on point radio button to activate this function.  To create the node select the created point and press OK.

You can only select one point at a time to create a node from.  If you select multiple points you will receive the following error message:
