Meshing Workbench

To generate the blank shape of the part or to perform sheet metal formability analysis FormingSuite must first mesh the skin of the part. The mesh is composed of triangular elements that represent the shape of the part. The chord deviation and size of the elements will influence the accuracy of the analysis. The Meshing branch in the Feature Tree lists three items in its sub-tree that define the mesh for the part.

Generation Settings

By right clicking on Generation Settings, you may either Delete the part mesh, edit the Property (name of the branch), or Hide/Show Details of the mesh generation settings (chord deviation and maximum element size leaves).

The Meshing - Generate Mesh dialog will appear when editing the mesh generation settings.  To edit the mesh generation setting right click on either the Chord Deviation leaf or the Maximum Element Size leaf and select Edit from the menu.  Alternatively, you can double click on either leaf to open the Meshing - Generate Mesh dialog.

Mesh

By right clicking on the Mesh, you may either Delete the mesh, edit the Property (name of the branch), view the mesh Info, Edit the mesh using manual mesh editing tools (create nodes, elements, or delete free nodes), or Export the mesh as a Nastran file. An example of the information displayed with the mesh Info option is shown below.
