11.1.1. Data Wizard Tutorial - Excel files - Step 1

When you choose the File-> Data Wizard menu item the window as in Figure 11.1, "First step of wizard" appears. In this window you can see a box labeled Suggestion which contains hints for the current step of the wizard.

By pressing the folder icon (red-squared in figure), you can access the file chooser. A window showing the last file system location is opened: this allows you to choose the file you wish to import. Clicking on a file name a brief file summary appears on the right box (yellow marked in Figure 11.2, "File chooser").

Pressing Open File the file is loaded in memory from hard disk. During this task a progress window appears as shown in Figure 11.3, "File loading progress window". When loading is finished press Continue button to continue.

The file is now loaded and a file summary is written in the green marked box in Figure 11.4, "The file is loaded". If needed (maybe because you click on a wrong file), you can choose another file repeating the procedure. When ready press the Next button (red marked in Figure 11.4, "The file is loaded") to move to next step.
