Straight Turn/Face Operation dialog

Operations are collections of individual machining cycles and commands. By gathering a series of instructions under one command, the number of mouse clicks and key presses you have to make to obtain results is greatly reduced.

The Straight Turn/Face operation can be uses to take the initial facing cut on the profile, so that future roughing passes can be taken over a smoother surface.

Tool Orientation - Select how to load the tool for the operation. Choose between Turn, Back Turn, Bore and Back Bore.

Cut Direction - Sets the default cut direction for all turning roughing operations.

Spindle Direction - Specifies the spindle direction as Forward or Reverse.

CSS - Check to use constant surface speed (as the tool approaches the centreline, the spindle speed increases).

Canned Cycle - Check to use the machine tool controller's canned cycle instead of the CNC code generated by EdgeCAM for the turning cycle.

Rough Cuts Only - Check to rapid move the tool back for the next drive. If the Rough Cuts Only box is blank, the tool feeds along the profile and to the previous drive line before returning for the next drive.

Cut Increment - Specifies the distance between cuts in the units used for the part.

ToolStore - Press the Find button to open the ToolStore. Pick the appropriate tool and click Select.

Feedrate - Specifies the feed rate in units per revolution or units per minute. You can select this using the Feed Type (M-Functions menu) command.

Speed - On a turning centre, this refers to the spindle speed, measured in units per revolution. This is overridden if you have selected constant surface speed using the CSS (M-Functions menu) command. CSS is normally only used with turning centres with fixed tooling (but not drills and taps).

Position - Specifies the position that the tool occupies on the turret (this defaults to the last-used turret position).

Nose Radius - Specifies the radius of the corner at the cutting end of the insert.

Symbol - Select from a list of ISO insert symbol types.

Edge Length - Specifies the length of the cutting edge of the insert.

Side Angle - Specifies the angle between the tool axis normal and the side of the insert.
