New Finish Turn dialog - General tab

Note that some of the options in this tab may be unavailable, depending on your licence.

Coord Input

You only see this box when editing an existing cycle. Select the cycle input you want to re-specify (re-digitise).

Ignore Undercuts

Check to prevent the tool moving any nearer the centre line as it feeds. Stops the tool cutting a decreasing taper or entering a groove, for example.

Tolerance

How closely complex turn profile curves, such as splines, are approximated in the toolpath. This value is the maximum deviation from the original profile.

  Offsets

Constant Offset

A combined X and Z offset (see below).

Click this button to apply different offsets to different elements of the profile. You use the Machining Attributes dialog (which is also opened by all the other similar buttons on this dialog), see more details...

Only available when editing the cycle.

Z Offset

Offsets the toolpath in Z relative to the turn profile.

X Offset

Offsets the toolpath in X relative to the turn profile (so positive values leave an oversize turned diameter).

  Feed

Feedrate

Cutting speed of the tool.

Click this button to apply different feedrates to different elements of the profile. You use the Machining Attributes dialog- see 'Constant Offset' above.

Only available when editing the cycle.

Speed

Spindle speed in Revolutions Per Minute (CSS not active), or Metres/Feet per minute (CSS active).

Click this button to apply different speeds to different elements of the profile. You use the Machining Attributes dialog- see 'Constant Offset' above.

Only available when editing the cycle.

  CRC

Compensation

Choose from:

None

Cancels all compensation. The output toolpath coincides with the part outline, and a code is output (typically G40)  that cancels the controller compensation. This is not recommended as it is unlikely to produce a correct part.

Controller Offset

The controller must supply the radius compensation, so the output toolpath coincides with the part outline. The controller needs a Left or Right code (typically G41 or G42) on which to base it's compensation; this is automatically determined.

This mode requires that controller offset registers and tool types are defined correctly. Refer to your controller manual for details.

This option has the advantage of allowing the operator to adjust for tool wear and component deflection (caused by cutting forces).

Do not make this setting if (Downcutting) Method is set to 'First' (Control tab) - you see a warning that the toolpath cannot be generated.

Pathcomp

EdgeCAM provides the radius compensation, so the toolpath is for the gauge point of the tool.

Patchcomp is usually more powerful than the controller's compensation. For example you must select Pathcomp to use Sandvik Coromant Wiper tools, to be able to compensate for the complex Wiper profile.

CRC Register

The compensation register to be used within the controller.
