Boring Tool dialog - Spindle tab

Only applies to b-axis and sub-spindle turning

Direction – Sets the spindle direction. If a tool is loaded from the ToolStore the direction is set automatically. If you have defined the tool “on the fly” you need to specify the spindle direction manually.

Gear - Separate gear ranges for the main, sub and driven spindles are possible. EdgeCAM automatically uses the appropriate gear range for the spindle being used. You can override the automatic gear selection by choosing a gear from the drop down list.

CSS  - Activate constant surface speed. Subsequent speeds are entered in units per minute and the cycle dialogs will show the speed units. If CSS is not checked,  RPM is programmed (in the cycle).

Max RPM – Specifies the maximum revolutions per minute for CSS.

Note for twin turret and sub-spindle lathes

Only one turret at a time can control the spindle speeds and gears etc.

In order for a turret to have access to the spindle controls the turret must have priority over the spindle. If the turret does not have priority the spindle controls will be greyed out. This is to stop conflicting spindle information being programmed. To obtain turret priority perform a Synchronise Turrets command.

Alternatively, the spindle control parameters can be accessed using the Spindle Control (M-Function menu) command.
