Preferences dialog - Toolpath tab

Specifies toolpath preferences for EdgeCAM.

Display

Extents - Select the limits of a Zoom Extents (View menu) command, which can be to only include the Model, the Toolpaths or out to the entire Machine Extents.

In CPL - Select the CPLs in which the toolpath normals are to be displayed. Choose between Current and All.

Force Rapid to Home - Automatically adds a Move to Home instruction at the end of the sequence, on generating CNC code for the sequence. The move is only added if the tool is not already at the Home position.

For the move, the last settings made when creating a Move to Home or Move to Toolchange (for X, Y, Z fixed and First) are used.

Force Rapid to Toolchange - Automatically inserts a Move to Toolchange instruction before any toolchange instruction you create, but only if the tool is not already at the Toolchange position.

For the move, the last settings made when creating a Move to Toolchange or Move to Home (for X, Y, Z fixed and First) are used.

Browser

Highlight Instructions - By default, as you move the mouse over an instruction in the browser window, the relevant toolpath is automatically highlighted in the graphics area. Uncheck this box if you want to disable this functionality.

Check for Deleted Geometry - Check this for checks to be made that highlight operations and cycles whose geometry has been deleted (which would lead to errors on generating CNC code). The highlighting is in the form of red text for the operation or cycle in the Sequence window. The checks are made on switching between Design and Manufacture modes, for example.

Uncheck this option if the automatic checks introduce too much of a delay - if your part contains many surfaces for example. You would then only see warnings on generating CNC code.

Normals

Length - Specifies the length of the toolpath normals.

Display - Check to display toolpath normals (in the orientation of the tool). There is also a button for quickly setting this option in the Display toolbar.

NC Output

When generating CNC code, you specify the name for the CNC file on the Generate Code (File menu) dialog. If required, you can set the following defaults.

Default NC File Extension - Specifies the default file extension of the CNC file. This is only used if you do not specify an extension when generating the file.

Force Upper Case - Check this box to save CNC file names in upper case.
