Specifies preferences when working with surfaces in EdgeCAM.
Fast Display - Check this box to display all surfaces with only one patch line in the U and V direction. This reduces the amount of rendering required in the GLview resulting in a performance improvement when manipulating the views of the model. Please note that this option only affects the wireframe and not the rendered display.
UV Marker
Length - Specifies the parametric length (from 0 to 1) of the longer U axis side of the marker. The default value is 0.1, or 10% of the U axis length.
Display - Check to show the UV Marker on each surface.
Normal
Length - Specifies the length of all surface normals. To display one or more surface normals on an individually selected surface, use the Surface Normals (Verify menu) command.
Display - Check to display lines representing the normals to each surface.
Intersections
Auto Grid Double - Specifies the number of times to automatically double the Search Grid Density when using a command that relies on searching for intersections. Only use a value of 5 or more with a powerful computer.
Analysis Model
Folder - Specifies the folder in which to store data created using the Analysis Model (Cycles menu) command.
STL
Smoothing Angle - Specifies the minimum angle between normals, below which edges will not be drawn. The lower the specified value the more detailed the visual representation. A higher value will speed rendering by drawing only 'creases' in the model.
Display Points - Check this to render vertices as a point cloud in wireframe.
Cache
All surface cycles (except Surface Areaclear and Surface Lace) generate a number of cache files. Storing the cycle information in the cache means that only parameters that have been changed will be regenerated on an edit. This can considerably speed up the time required to edit existing toolpaths.
Folder - By default, the cache files are created under the \edgecam\cam\tmp folder. Use this parameter to specify a new location for the files.
Maximum Size (Mb) - Specifies the maximum size of the cache folder. If the specified limit is reached the oldest files will be deleted first.
Paged Memory Threshold (MB) - Paged memory is used when a toolpath generation is estimated to need more than this amount of memory (so EdgeCAM handles the swapping out of memory to disk). The default is 600:
Set lower values for more reliability when processing large and complicated toolpaths (though processing times will be longer on average).
Set higher values for shorter processing times, especially if your machine has a large amount of memory (RAM).
Note that messages in the Feedback window allow you to monitor whether paged memory is in use or not.
