Specifies general system preferences for EdgeCAM.
Display Mode Buttons - Displays the buttons for switching between Design and Manufacture mode, that appear in the top-right of the EdgeCAM Window. Without these buttons displayed, use 'Design' and 'Manufacture' in the Options menu.
Part Units - The units of the
part; inches or millimeters.
Note that changing the units does not scale the open part geometry. To
switch from working in inches to millimeters for example, you will need
to use Edit > Transorm > Scale to scale up your geometry (approximately
by 25).
Many areas of EdgeCAM can work simultaneously with different unit types. For example, the part units could be metric but toolpaths created with an imperial tool.
Environment - Sets the default environment.
Feedback Dialog - By default, a feedback window is used to display information for various Verify commands, solid model tolerance notification and the results of feature find. Check this option if you wish to display the pre-version 7.50 information dialog instead.
Display Full Path in Title Bar - Displays the full path and filename of the open part at the right-hand end of the EdgeCAM Window title bar. This is in addition to the part's filename, which is always displayed at the left hand end.
Full Screen Anti-Aliasing - Pixels are inserted to reduce the 'staircase' effect on sloping lines, for example. If anti-aliasing is set as a property of your graphics card, affecting all applications, or if anti-aliasing is not supported by the card, this setting will have no effect.
Autosave - Specifies the number of commands after which an automatic save (Autosave) occurs. Zero disables the Autosave functionality. To load the automatically saved part, select the Open Autosave (File menu) command.
Tolerances
System - Specifies a tolerance value used to store and save EdgeCAM entity data.
Display - Specifies a tolerance value to which objects are drawn on the screen. For example at a tolerance of 0.1, arcs may look faceted into straight line sections when you zoom in. The arc will look smoother at 0.001. Use View menu ► Regenerate ► Vectors to re-draw the display at the new tolerance.
Mouse Wheel Sensitivity - Adjust the mouse wheel sensitivity by entering a value which will act as the zoom factor applied on each 'click' of the wheel. If '1.2' (the default value) is used the magnification will be multiplied by that amount when the mouse wheel is moved forwards and divided by that amount when the mouse wheel is moved backwards. A value of 1.5 will make the mouse wheel more sensitive.
Note: Using a value of 0.5 has the effect of reversing the zoom direction, i.e. moving the wheel backwards will zoom in and moving the wheel forwards will zoom out. The maximum value allowed is 100 but it is recommended to use values in the range of 0-10.
Import
New IGES Export - Check to use the new IGES Export when saving EdgeCAM part files as IGES files. Note that EdgeCAM supports two alternative IGES export systems. EdgeCAM IGES gives better support of 2D annotation (dimensioning) while the New IGES Export may offer better results with certain types of surface models.
New DWG/DXF Import - Check to use the 'new loader', that you need to open the 2004 format AutoCAD files. Otherwise we recommend you leave this unchecked to use the 'old loader'.
There are different levels of support for AutoCAD entities and attributes between the old and new loaders; these are detailed in the main EdgeCAM help.
New DWG/DXF Explode Blocks - Check this for AutoCAD blocks to be exploded into their constituent entities on loading. Note that the option applies to blocks containing only lines, arc or point entities. Blocks containing any other entities are always exploded. If not exploded, AutoCAD blocks become EdgeCAM groups.
New DWG/DXF Log Folder - The path to a folder in which to create the log files on DWG/DXF imports (with New DWG/DXF Import' checked). With nothing specified a log file is not created. (This option is not needed for the 'old' DWG/DXF Import as you specify the log file location when you import.)
New IGES Import - Check to use the new IGES Import when loading an IGES file into EdgeCAM. EdgeCAM supports two alternative IGES import systems. If you have an IGES file that does not load using the current IGES translator we recommend that you try loading it using the new translator.
Strategy Folder - Specifies the folder in which Strategy Manager data is stored. By default, these files are stored in an EdgeCAM system folder called cam\strategy.
