Clearance - Specifies the absolute height at which the tool can move freely in the XY plane without encountering any material or fixtures. If more than one profile is machined with a single cycle, or the tool cannot enter an area, the tool lifts to the Clearance plane between each profile.
Retract - Specifies the height (relative to the Level) to rapid to before feeding to Depth. If no value is entered, Retract is set to the same height as the Clearance plane.
Level - Specifies the absolute height at which the cycle is to start.
Depth - Specifies the total depth to machine. As the Depth is incremental to the Level, this is typically a negative value.
Mill Type - Select from None, Climb and Conventional.
Profile Extension Start/End - (For open profiles only) Specifies the amount by which to tangentially extend or shorten the start and end points of the selected profile.
Please note that the Profile operation will only ask for the profile selection, not the material side. Start and end positions can only be controlled using the Profile Extensions modifier. In the case of closed profiles, the start point is set to the nearest start, end or midpoint on the profile when it is selected.
Overlap - Specifies the distance the tool will overlap around a closed profile.

Profile Material on the Left This option is used to take advantage of the feature material side and to maintain associativity between the feature and the Profile operation. When manually identifying features in EdgeCAM Solid Machinist, the direction of the profile is automatically selected such that the material is on the left. Checking the Profile Material on the Left option on the General tab of the Preferences (Operations menu) dialog will allow the machining operation to cut the correct side of the feature without any further intervention from the user. This method can be used on wireframe geometry by chaining the profile in the correct direction so as to maintain the material on the left. |
