Pencil Mill Operation dialog - General tab

Note that some of the options in this tab may be unavailable, depending on your licence.

A new pencil mill cycle was introduced in EdgeCAM version 7.50. Please note that the Pencil Mill operation uses the "old" (i.e. pre-version 7.50) cycle.

Spline Output - Check to output the toolpath as a series of splines. Only available with a code generator supporting this option.

Tolerance - Specifies the maximum deviation of the generated toolpath from the selected, mathematically correct, surface.

Offset - Specifies the offset of the toolpath from all surfaces.

Down Mill - Check to enable the down milling option.

Down Mill Angle - Specifies the minimum angle (range between 0 - 90) that determines if a curve is to be considered for down milling. The default value is 30 degrees.

Steep Angle - Specify an angle (range between 0 - 90) to cut all steep (near vertical) curves before any shallow curves that exist below them. This avoids the tool taking a cut around the base of a pocket before removing the material in the corners.

Clearance - Specifies the absolute height at which the tool can move freely in the XY plane without encountering any material or fixtures.

Level - Specifies the absolute height at which the cycle is to start.
