This diagram shows two pocketing situations. Both cases include an island, but in one case the island is inside a pocketed area. You can machine both cases in EdgeCAM Milling if a specified boundary encloses all islands.

You can use three types of offset parameter for removing stock:
Offset – Specifies the distance the tool is offset from the outer profile, in addition to the tool radius.
Island Offset – Specifies the distance the tool is offset from any specified islands, in addition to the tool radius. Note that this parameter is not used with the External Boss strategy.
Depth – This is the depth to which the cycle removes material. Use this to specify a depth offset or “finish allowance” (see below).

Specifying a Finish Allowance
When you input the Depth parameter for the cycle, you can input a calculation for the depth.
For example, you may know that the depth of the material is 10 inches and the amount of stock to be left at the bottom is 0.5 inch. Therefore instead of typing 9.5 for the Depth of the cycle, you could enter 10-.5.
This makes it easy to change if you need to edit the cycle later.
