Combination Finishing lets you combine two EdgeCAM cycles to produce a highly efficient finishing toolpath, using the most appropriate technique for machining each region of the part. One tool is used to machine the whole part, as the second cycle in the combination machines everything left uncut by the first cycle. Combination Finishing uses an Analysis Model to determine the flat and steep areas of the selected surfaces.
Please note that Granite models will not work with the Combination Finishing cycle. The cycle is performed using an Analysis Model, which is generated from one or more selected surfaces. When loading Granite models there is no EdgeCAM surface generation, making analysis model creation impossible.
Rest Milling
Some cycles will leave material on the part because the tool's size and shape stop it from cutting into narrow corners. 'Rest Milling' is a strategy within the Combination Finishing cycle that identifies and machines these missed areas using a smaller tool. The Combination Finishing cycle's use of Surface Analysis Models makes it ideal as a cycle from which to use Rest Milling.
