Use this tab to create new threading information or to amend the information imported from a solid CAD system.
Apart from Depth, the threading information cannot be explicitly used as the basis for machining (unlike other feature properties, such as the Level and Depth values in the Geometry tab). You could however use the information in strategy manager to select the appropriate tool.
|
Tapped |
Whether the hole has threading information. When edging, check to start defining threading information. |
|
Standard |
If you want to define a standard thread, such as 'ANSI Metric', select this here. This cannot be set on importing from CAD systems (will be left at 'None'). |
|
Nominal Size |
The nominal size for the specified Standard thread selection (above). This might be a true size dimension (usually a diameter), or a gauge or reference number. Once you have selected a value, other threading values are be automatically set from the threads database. This cannot be set on importing from CAD systems (will be left at 'None'). |
|
Thread Units |
The units that the size values in this dialog, such as Tap Diameter, are specified. |
|
Tap Diameter |
The tap diameter. See 'Thread Units' above. |
|
Drill Size |
The tapped drill size. See 'Thread Units' above. |
|
Clearance Drill Size |
The clearance drill size. See 'Thread Units' above. |
|
Pitch/TPI |
Specifies the pitch of the thread or the number of threads per inch dependingon the thread specification. |
|
Hand |
Whether the thread is right or left-handed thread. |
|
Full Depth |
Check this for the threading to extend to the bottom of the hole. |
|
Depth (in Part Units) |
The depth of the tapped part of the hole. |
The hole feature will not be 'fully defined' (as indicated
by a '?' in the Features Window) if 'Tapped' is checked and any of these
values are not defined: Thread Units, Tap Diameter, Drill Size, Pitch/TPI,
and Depth.
