Use this command to import SAT format files into EdgeCAM. Note that you can also load .SAB files. These can contain exactly the same information as SAT files, but in binary form (SAB) rather than in text (SAT) format.

Load Edges - Check to load ACIS edge descriptions as green entities on layer "Curves".

Load Faces - Check to load ACIS face descriptions as red entities on layer "Surfaces".

Generate Surface Groups - Select to create a cyan EdgeCAM surface group entity on layer "Surface Groups" for each ACIS body containing one or more faces. Each surface group entity contains all EdgeCAM surfaces created from that body's faces. The command directs every member of a surface group 'FORWARD'.

Log File Name - Specify the name and location of the error log file (the default name and location is \edge\cam\tmp\satload.log). If no errors occur during the load, the log file will contain the single line: "Filename.sat loaded successfully".

SAT File Units - Select the type of units (mm, inches etc.) in which the SAT file was created. The importing process scales the geometry appropriately in relation to the units of the current EdgeCAM part.

Read from File - Select to use the unit type specified in the file. If the file does not contain unit information (ACIS 2.0 or earlier), the file is assumed to be using millimetres.

Once you have specified the parameters, click on OK to start loading data.

As the load proceeds, the EdgeCAM status bar shows which entity is currently being loaded out of the total number of entities.

All surfaces will be loaded with standard normals pointing out from solid objects.
