You use this tab to set up sub-spindle and twin turret machining; for example you specify the datum positions for the main and sub spindle. The sub-spindle geometry is copied to the grip position so that it can be displayed during docking for collision detection purposes.
Note that you can subsequently edit most of these parameters, using Lathe Setup in the M-Functions menu.
Mirror View - (Turning environment only) Check this option to create a mirrored profile about the Z-axis for lower turret work. After you have clicked OK to accept the dialog parameters, you are prompted to digitise the profile that you want to mirror. Perform a Finish and the mirrored profile is created.
Sub Spindle – Check this to define the sub-spindle is active. Enables sub-spindle related parameters such as Set Up Part Transfer.
Set up Part Transfer – Check this if you want to set up for sub-spindle transfer. On closing the dialog you will be prompted to:
Digitise the component geometry to be copied to the sub-spindle. (Note that all relevant related items are copied, such as features, boundary entities and user-defined cpls.)
Digitise the grip position for the sub-spindle chuck on the component geometry (see an illustration).
Digitise the sub-spindle geometry.
(This is in addition to any other parameters you set to 'digitise'.)
Move Datums to Back Face – Check this for the initial CPLs of parts to be at the back face (the chuck end).
(Main/Sub Spindle) Datum
to Chuckface – Distances from machine datum to chuck face (see
an illustration). The default value is set in the code generator.
If the machine datum were at the centre of the machine
bed instead of the back of the chuck you would specify a negative value
for the Main Spindle Datum to Chuckface.
Part Stick Out - Use this to set the position of the front edge of the chuck jaws, to represent the gripping position on the part (so you are positioning the whole machine tool representation to suit the position of the part geometry). Set a value that is the distance in Z between the origin of the Initial CPL (as set in the General tab) and the front edges of the chuck jaws (as determined by the 'Datum to Chuckface' value). Set positive values for the chuck jaws to be to the left of the CPL origin, when in the Turn view. see an illustration
Note that you use this methods as an alternative to checking Machine Datum (in the General tab).
(Machine to Sub Spindle Datum) - Z
- This is the separation distance of the two spindles in Z (see
an illustration).
The default value is set in the code generator.
