In the Five Axis Cycle (General tab) you can set a Round Corners value to prevent 'fishtails'.
Fishtails are where the switch between cutting surfaces introduces extra
sharp corners into the toolpath.
|
Here is a SWARF type situation where the tool is cutting on its side
into a corner. (There is no gouge checking.)
|
The non-blank setting is a radius value from the 90° corner at which to trim the toolpath. This leaves a gap, which is then treated according to the 'Gap Link'
settings in the cycle dialog's Links tab ('Smooth' in this example).
|
A 0 value just removes the fishtails.
|
You might want to leave a blank setting to disable fishtail removal:
The fishtail removal can lead to unexpected results - such as missing sections of toolpath.
The fishtail removal introduces a calculation overhead, delaying the cycle generation.
