The new Open Pocket feature
type brings all the advantages of feature based machining to open pocket
regions.
Create Open Pockets by checking Open
Pockets in the Feature Finder dialog (General tab), so that:
There is no more need to create boundary geometry
(that you would probably have used to trim the toolpath for the whole
solid down to just the open pocket regions).
Associativity is maintained between machining
and the model.
Please note (see the illustration
on the right where the features are shown in Lilac):
Open Pockets are where a vertical face meets a
horizontal floor.
A floor can only be part of one open pocket, so
'1' on the right does not produce two separate pockets (there is no pocket).
The wall cannot have a draft angle, so there is
no feature at '2' on the right.
Open Pocket features can only be machined using
the Roughing and Profiling cycles.
