In some CAD systems you can use the Export to EdgeCAM button to transfer the open part directly into EdgeCAM.

This is an alternative to saving the part to a file, then opening the file in EdgeCAM. However the direct method potentially transfers more information, such as hole threading data and CPL data (this information is not accessible from the saved solids files, and is transferred via a saved XML file).
 

Installing

You can install CAD Links in:

• SolidWorks

• Autodesk Inventor

• Solid Edge

• EdgeCAM Part Modeler (always has the link - no installation needed).

Insert the EdgeCAM CD and from the menu that automatically opens select Install EdgeCAM CAD links.

If the menu does not open, run edgecamcadlink.exe from the \CADLinks folder of the CD.

The installation automatically detects any of the supported CAD systems on the PC, and installs the link.
