Superseded features are features which were:
created using a release of EdgeCAM prior to Version 9.0, or
found using the 'Superseded' feature identifying commands: Superseded Pocket, Superseded Through Pocket, Superseded External Boss, Superseded Profile, or
found using the Feature Finder, with the Superseded (Pockets or Bosses) option checked (note you only see this option if the Options (menu) > Preferences > Solids (tab) > Superseded Feature Find option is checked).
We recommend you work with 'new' features, but you can still work with the superseded features to maintain backwards compatibility.
Superseded features are similar to 'new' features; they appear in the Features Window for example and you edit them in the same way. There are differences however; for example:
The superseded features do not work correctly with operations introduced in EdgeCAM 9.0 or later.
Superseded features can only have 2D geometry, so a superseded pocket can only have straight sides, for example. (New features can have more complex geometry.)
Edits to superseded features are overwritten on re-loading the solid. (The edits you make to new features are not overridden on re-loading the solid.)
Superseded features cannot be nested; they all effectively have a 'Nesting Status' property of 'Single'.
