The Move Sub-spindle (Move menu) command is used to advance and retract the sub-spindle to a designated position or return it to its home position for example following a Parting Off operation. |
The command is only available when a sub-spindle part datum has been defined and the main spindle is selected. The sub-spindle chuck jaw face is positioned relative to the main spindle part datum.
Note that If you are using Machine Tool Simulation, after you use the command the sub spindle is shown in your specified position. This may change however, and also may be invalid if you delete sub spindle moves. In this case you can refresh the sub spindle displayed position...
The command opens a dialog opens in which you set:
Z Offset – Specify an optional Z offset distance from the chuck face. The move is now relative to the offset position.

Feedrate – Specifies the feedrate at which the Sub Spindle moves to the grip position in units per minute.
Move Type – Specifies a Rapid or Feed move.
Return Home – Check this box to return the sub-spindle to its home position. This will turn off the layer :Sub Spindle Docked.
The SubSpindle CPL remains fixed in its original position when the sub-spindle moves. Therefore it is not possible to select the sub-spindle for subsequent machining when it is away from its home position.
Prior to moving the sub-spindle ensure that the main
spindle Turn ZX CPL is selected.
