Moving Databases - Folder Structure

The whole ToolStore file set (including tool and holder graphics, and the 'jbi' file of job instructions) must be in a folder structure that has the ToolStore database '.mdb' file in the root.

For example:

Two toolstores sharing folders

or Separate folders

\Common TStore\

jbi_Turning Tools.mdb

jbi_Milling Tools.mdb

Milling Tools.mdb

Turning Tools.mdb

holdergraphics\

Reports\

toolinggraphics\

\Turning TStore\

jbi_Turning Tools.mdb

Turning Tools.mdb

holdergraphics\

Reports\

toolinggraphics\

\Milling TStore\

jbi_Milling Tools.mdb

Milling Tools.mdb

holdergraphics\

Reports\

toolinggraphics\

If you are moving or copying, the folder structure and its files must be moved or copied as a whole. (You would then need to use Location to link the tooling utilities to the new database location.)

A benefit of separate folders is that the tool graphics folders for each database will be kept separate and closely associated with their database.

Where EdgeCAM jobs relate to individual operations or phases of a job on the shop floor it is recommended that the EdgeCAM Job Description should incorporate the operation number or some other unique identifier. Then there will be no problems if a second operation is also programmed using EdgeCAM, e.g. "Job12345-99-Op030" and "Job12345-99-Op060".
