Only partial text-type matches are needed. For example if you filter the description on 'Ki', then 'Kit for Brass Long Chip and 'Kit for Tungsten' might be listed. The matching is not case-sensitive.
The Show in List option filters on jobs' Visible in list property (in the Job dialog General tab).
