Strategy Manager requires processes containing one or more machining instructions to be created in EdgeCAM and and passed into Strategy Manager.
The optimum number of instructions per process will depend on the working context and personal preference. It will have little or no effect on operating efficiency or the content of the created sequences.
To output a process to Strategy Manager
In EdgeCAM, create the cycles, tool changes and other instructions that you require. Select the instructions in the Sequence window and open the context menu with a right-hand mouse click.
Select Output Process from the context menu. This places the selected instruction(s) on the clipboard.
Each process will contain one or more instructions and there is a choice between many simple processes or fewer more complex ones. For example you may wish to combine toolchange and cycle in one process (akin to an EdgeCAM operation) or you might prefer a toolchange process and a separate cycle process. Both methods are "correct" and either can be made to work effectively.
Start Strategy Manager.
In the Process browser open the context menu with a right-hand mouse click and select Paste. A new process will be created containing the required instructions. The actual content of the instruction modifiers is not important at this stage.
Rename the process with a meaningful identification before returning to EdgeCAM for the next process.
Once you have created enough processes you can move to Strategy Manager. See Creating the Strategy.
There is no need to create
all processes in this way at the beginning. More processes can be added
at any time and, if you wish, processes can be deleted and replaced by
new ones.
