Most machining cycles automatically move the tool from the current position to approach the start point of cutting.
In the horizontal plane, the tool moves from its current position to the start point at the rapid rate. The tool motion then depends on its vertical position. If the tool starts:
Above the Retract plane, the tool rapids to the Retract plane.
Below the Retract plane, the tool rapids up to the Clearance plane and then rapids down to the Retract plane.
The tool then feeds down to the Depth plane, and feeds into position at depth.
