The Hole Cycle (Mill Cycles menu) command provides all the functionality for the different hole creation methods.

Note that there is a newer version of this cycle: the New Hole Cycle. This 'old' cycle is maintained for compatibility purposes. Otherwise we recommend using the new cycle; this has additional features such as Radial hole machining.

Throughout this chapter, the term “drilling” in the general sense includes all strategies for creating holes.

The procedure for performing hole cycles depends on your selection of Depth parameters.

You can select points, lines or arcs as input for the EdgeCAM drilling cycles. When selecting arcs, the centre of the arc is drilled. Please note that arcs must lie in the current CPL. Also see Filtering Drill Entities.

You will be able to optimise the resulting toolpath using different patterns. See Optimising the Toolpath.

You can also use the Hole (Operations menu) command to combine several related drilling commands. See Operational Programming in Milling for details of using operations.
