Moving to the Initial Plane

Milling environment only

Use the Initial Plane (Move menu) command to move the tool to the Initial Plane.

The Initial Plane is a height at which the tool is safe to move without any risk of colliding with any part of the workpiece, clamps or fixtures. The default value is taken from the Code Generator file.

You can set the height of the Initial Plane by specifying a value for the Initial Plane parameter in the Machine Parameters (M-Functions menu command.

Note that while toolchange and home positions are defined in world co-ordinates the initial plane is defined from the initial CPL of the sequence. These two datum points may be different.
