Adding Machine Simulation to Existing Code Generators

On opening a pre-Version 10 adaptive turn CGD in the code wizard, you are prompted for the loading of default machine graphics.

Only confirm with a Yes if you intend to setup your machine for machine simulation. This requires additional configuration in Code Wizard, and additional information to be entered in EgdeCAM, for accurate machine simulation. We suggest that before attempting this you familiarise yourself with the procedures using the help systems (for Code Wizard and EdgeCAM) and the tutorial.

When you have said yes to machine graphics you should be prepared to go all the way through with the machine definition. We also strongly recommend that you save the upgraded code generator to a different name in order to retain your original code generator.

If you subsequently decide to opt for full machine simulation, simply re-open the CGD, perform a file update and confirm with a Yes when prompted.

Similarly you can opt into or out of machine tool simulation when opening a template to create a new CGD, with the option of upgrading at a later stage as described above.

Machine Simulation on Existing parts

It is likely that your existing machining sequences were created without machine simulation in mind and will therefore not contain all the necessary information needed for full machine simulation.

For existing ppf files to simulate correctly the machine datum must be set correctly and gauge distances must be entered for all tools. The toolchange and home positions are also critical. It is not possible to change the machine datum on existing machining sequences.
