There are different ways of activating a layer.
You can select the layer in the drop down list in the Standard EdgeCAM toolbar.
In the Layers Window, you can either activate the layer by double clicking it or by opening the shortcut menu with a right-hand mouse click and selecting the option Make Active.
The active layer is marked in red in the Layers Window.
Geometric entities are always created on the ACTIVE layer.
