This document covers the EdgeCAM to AutoTAS link and its use within EdgeCAM. For further information on the AutoTAS database and software itself you should contact your distributor.
Installation
In order to establish a link from EdgeCAM to an AutoTAS database the following steps must be taken. The act of installing an AutoTAS database and software should complete this process.
In case of difficulty check that the following steps have been completed:
Install the AutoTAS product from the Sandvik CD.
Create an AUTOTAS\DATABASES folder.
Establish the AutoTAS database in that folder.
Modify AutoTAS.ini to link to the database and cutting data files required.
Set up the connectivity in ControlPanel\ODBC Data Sources.
CAM Types
Note that for AutoTAS tool assemblies to be compatible with EdgeCAM, each must have a recognisable CAMTYPE.
In AutoTAS, every assembly has a defined ASSEMBLY TYPE, which in turn links to a CAMTYPE suitable for the CADCAM system in use. CAMTYPE definitions are stored in the AutoTAS file, ATYPE.INI and you should ensure that the following types are defined for each category.
