The various communications parameters can be toggled (switched) by pressing the keyboard’s function keys. When your settings match those of the incoming data the appropriate received characters appear in the main NETscope screen area.

Mode Toggles between: Terminal - This puts NETscope into terminal mode - any character you type is transmitted immediately. Capture - Saves incoming characters to the capture file. Transmit - Transmits characters from the capture file. Step - Transmits successive characters from the capture file, one for each keypress.. |

Baud Toggles the baud rate, starting at 110 and going up to 38400. |

Parity Toggles the parity between: NONE |

F5 |
Data Bits Toggles the number of data bits between 7 and 8. |

F6 |
Stop Bits Toggles the number of stop bits between 1 and 2. |

RTS Toggles RTS

DTR Toggles DTR

XOFF Toggles between XOFF and XON. The XON or XOFF character is sent when you toggle to that setting. |

Shift+F1 |
Echo Toggles the echo between on and off. When Echo is on, all transmitted characters are displayed on the screen. When Echo is off, only received characters are displayed on the screen. |

Shift+F2 |
Leaving NETscope When you want to exit out of NETscope, press Shift+F2 or the Alt+Shift+Q keys at the same time. You are asked if you want to exit to MS-DOS. Press N to say “no” and stay in NETscope. Any other key press exits you out of NETscope. You will then be returned to the MS-DOS Command window. To return to another running application, press Alt+Tab until the name of the appropriate application is displayed, then release both keys. Alternatively, to close down the MS-DOS window, type: EXIT and press the Enter key. |
