Creating a solid model representation of the machine tool is an optional step in the overall Machine Simulation Setup process. You could instead use the basic block 'paremetric' graphics that are created automatically.
The basic process of creating the solid model is the same whether you use EdgeCAM Part Modeler or another solid modeling package. Here are some hints and tips (see also the illustration below):
Keep the model as simple as possible, excluding unnecessary detail for fast simulation.
Use a separate body for each part of the machine; the base, spindle mounts and so on.
Optionally model chucks and tool mounting blocks. These should be in separate files and not in the main machine assembly.
Place all the movable elements at their 'home' positions.
Model the B Axis at B0 (pointing towards the main spindle).
Model all turrets with the turret origin at Y0.
For the orientation, align the spindle axes along the Z Axis.
Set the part units to the units you will be using to define the machine in Code Wizard.
Position the model so that the point you will be using as the Graphics Origin (such as the back of the main spindle) is at the World coordinates origin (which is where the datum marker is in the illustration below).
Note critical measurements of the model that will be required for later entry in Code Wizard; for example the home position of the turret.
Here is an illustration of a typical B axis lathe model:
