Creating a Code Generator

To open a template:

If you have just started Code Wizard choose Start a New Document from the opening dialog (if the opening dialog is enabled in the Preferences dialog).
If Code Wizard is already running, use File menu ► New.
In the template selection dialog that opens enter your machine's configuration, then choose from the offered templates supporting that configuration.

Alternatively, for milling machines select one of the supplied CGDs already configured for a particular machine (these do not support custom parametric Machine Simulation graphics).

For the latest templates supporting 4/5 Axis machining, indexing and spindle control uncheck 'Show Superseded Templates', to choose only from the latest 'adaptive' templates.

For Machine Simulation check 'Load the default parametric graphics' and refer to Machine Simulation Setup - Milling or Machine Simulation Setup - Turning.

To open a CGD:

If you have just started Code Wizard, choose Open an Existing Document from the opening dialog (if the opening dialog is enabled in the Preferences dialog, use the next method if not).
If Code Wizard is already running, use File menu ► Open.

The wizard is only for modifying templates. It starts as soon as you open a template. You can carry on using the wizard, or you can click the Finish button that periodically appears to switch to using the trees (your settings up to that point are remembered, the remaining settings are at their default values).

You use the trees after exiting the wizard, or after opening CGD. For more information see Using the Code Generator tree, Setting up the Machine Tree and Setting up the Fixtures Tree.

Creating a Code Generator

Below is a general overview of creating a code generator. When creating a code generator to support machine simulation, also see the guidelines in Machine Simulation Setup.

To create a code generator you open a machine configuration, and modify this to match your particular machine.

The configuration is either from a supplied template, or a configuration that you have saved yourself (in a CGD), having previously modified a template.

The first step is to open the template or CGD. There are a number of templates for popular machines. You choose the template that most closely matches your machine. (On opening a CGD, you may be prompted to update it; see Updating against New Templates.)

You make the modifications using a collection of dialogs, making edits to the settings that come from the template or CGD. You can access the dialogs in the serial 'Wizard' format (the Wizard starts on opening a template). Alternatively you can open the dialogs at random, from a variety of trees.

Throughout the procedure the dialogs have Help buttons that you can use for more information.
