Major new support for NC macros
Enhancements to the resize dialog: You can now move the part within a specific stock size vs. adjust the stock size to the bounding box of the part
Enhancements to the setup creation/edit dialog: can now align setups with part geometry
Enhancements to the stock wizard: Now easily align with part geometry.
Max RPM is now stored in the post processor file.
Additional machine tool fonts.
Offset curve with trimming/clipping of self-intersections.
Size of dimension text and arrows are now controllable
Infinite lines are now clipped by the chamfer and fillet commands.
SolidWorks and Inventor import that finds all of the holes and creates them properly in FeatureCAM.
Direct Unigraphics (UG) file import
Summary of versions supported in FeatureCAM 2005
FeatureMILL
Eliminate boss or side feature air cutting
More control over lead lead-ins and outs for side and boss features
A-017676: Bottom leave allowance.
2-axis milling toolpaths have been overhauled for robustness.
New tapping and threading options
FeatureTURN
The efficiency of a turned groove finish pass was improved. A rapid move was eliminated from straight-walled groove finishing
New turning attributes Side liftoff distance and Skip wall pass
Automatically use a slower feedrate for small arcs and chamfers in turning. New turning misc. default attrubute, Do feed reduction for small moves
FeatureTURN will now automatically supply a semi-finish pass on any curved groove that does not have straight walls.
New dogleg rapid post parameter. It applies to turned grooves. If it is turned on, then linear moves are substituted for rapid moves that are not at 0 degrees or 45 degrees.
Grooves can now be cut using both a depth first and width first strategy.
New offset-based roughing. There is now a third type of turned roughing algorithm.
The Dwell attribute has been moved from the from a groove's roughing pass to the finish pass instead.
FeatureMILL3D
Z level rough now can plunge off the part for open areas using the new Use open profiles option.
New Interleaved 3D finishing technique.
Surface milling features can now be grouped and patterned.
Surface milling features can now be used on the front face of a turn/mill part.
Z-level finishing and roughing create fewer lines of G-code and better arcs are generated. The arc/line approximation algorithm has been overhauled.
Better handling of very large files. This includes faster opening of large .fm files, faster projection milling and faster saving of large part files.
Solid Modeling
Surface Edges dialog presents you with all of the edges and allows you to pick them.
FeatureRECOGNITION
Initial feature recognition for turning
5-Axis Positioning
Tilting head is now supported
