Offset creates a new line or arc by offset from an existing line or arc. Use the following steps to perform an offset.
Type the offset distance into the dialog bar.
Select the existing line (or arc) with the mouse. Note that you can also grab a line from the stock even though there is no line explicitly there.
Move the mouse pointer to the side of the line (or circle) and click the mouse. The line will now be offset on that side of the original object. Note: Do not drag the mouse or that will change the offset value.
When you are done offsetting lines or arcs, exit this mode.
