Extrude creates a surface from a curve by extending that line sideways a specified distance. Sideways can be a linear distance in any direction. Extrudes are a shortcut to create a ruled surface between a curve and a transformation of the curve.
Follow these steps to create an extruded surface:
An extruded surface requires a source curve as input. If you have no curves or geometry in the drawing, you can’t create an extruded surface.
Use the Surface wizard or select Extrude in the surface toolbar flyout.
Name the surface for future reference.
Click Pick and pick the curve you are extruding from the list box or with the mouse.
Specify the parameters of the extrude. You can do this in one of two ways.
Enter the specific vector of the extrude construction.
Or enter the point to extrude from and then enter the point where the extrude ends.
Click Finish or OK.
