  1. Create a sphere using Create new triangle primitives .

  2. Click on the View from Top (Z) button .

  3. From the Paint Triangles dialog box select the Flood fill to view horizon angle, check the Mix colour with existing colour option and set a Flood fill range of 95. Click on the sphere to paint all the triangles in the current view.

  4. Click on the button to re-orientate the model to the opposing side. You should just be able to see the colour you have just painted around the edge of the sphere.

  5. Change the colour in the Colour list box and click again on the sphere.

  6. If you now rotate the model to the view shown below, you will see where the two colours have mixed. This provides a colour band around the sphere, with a width of 10 degrees.

  7. Click on Accept to close the Paint Triangles dialog box.

  8. You can use the colour band when sketching a split line using the Sketch Curves button on the Curve Editing toolbar.
