The Collapse Triangle Edges button collapses a shared triangle edge. This removes the triangles on either side and extends the neighbouring triangles to fill the gaps.

You can use this tool to delete the edges of selected thin or small triangles.

The examples below shows how the collapsed edge is replaced by a single point at its centre point, with the neighbouring triangles using this as a node.

The resulting triangles look like this:

To collapse triangle edges:

  1. Click on the triangle edge that you want to collapse. The triangles either side are selected and turn red.

Note: Be careful to select only the edge or edges you want to collapse. If you select a number of triangles, you may delete triangles that you want to keep.

  1. Click on the Collapse Triangle Edges button .
