Filter Model - Triangles

The Triangles tab of the Filter Model dialog box allows you to filter out noise in a triangle model. The Filtering Options area allows you to select the method and tolerance to use.

The Method list box contains the following options:

• Weighted Average Smooth – select this option to reposition each triangle node to an average position of the point and its neighbouring points that are within the distance specified as the Tolerance value.

If you want CopyCAD to carry out the filtering process repeatedly, type the number of times you want CopyCAD to carry out the calculation in the Maximum Number of Iterations box.

• Triangle Edge Optimisation – select this option to align triangle edges with features in the model.
  
  
• Triangle Edge Optimisation (Max) – select this option to align triangle edges with features in the model, specifying the maximum number of times that you want CopyCAD to carry out the calculation in the Maximum Number of Iterations box below.

Note The last two options allow you to optimise imported triangle models that have not been created in this way.
