Filter Model - Scanlines

The Scanlines tab of the Filter Model dialog box allows you to filter out noise in a scanline model. The Filtering Options area allows you to select the method and tolerance to use.

The Method list box contains the following options:

• Weighted Average Smooth – select this option to reposition each point in a scanline to an average position of the point and its neighbouring points that are within the distance specified as the Tolerance value, as shown in this example.

• Curve Fitting Smooth – Select this option to smooth scanlines by fitting curves through the data, as shown in the example below. You set the maximum distance between each point and the curve in the Tolerance box.

  

• Curve Fitting (Z Shift only) - Select this option to smooth gridlines by fitting curves through the data while maintaining the grid spacing in the X/Y axis. You set the maximum distance between each point and the curve in the Tolerance box.

Note: Points are only smoothed if the new scanlines is within tolerance.
