File - Import Points Wizard

You can use the Import Points Wizard to import any points file whose format is supported by CopyCAD. Under most circumstances, you use the File - Open menu option to open points files. If, however, the file has an unknown extension but you know the file format, you can use the wizard to tell CopyCAD about the file.

To import points using the Import Points Wizard:

1. Select File - Import Points Wizard from the menu system to display the Step 1 of the Wizard.
   
   
2. Click on the Browse button and locate the points file you want to import using the Open dialog box.

If CopyCAD recognises the file extension, it displays a description of that file type in the Recognized Formats tab

3. If you want to identify the file's format, either because the file has not been recognised or because it has been wrongly identified, click on the All Formats tab, and click on the format for this file.

Note: If you want to view a list of the points, click on the Preview button to open the Preview window.

4. When you have selected the file format, click on the Next button.
   
   
5. The Wizard now displays a list of the options that will be applied when importing the points file. If you are happy with this summary, click on the Next button.

CopyCAD now imports the file, and the Wizard displays a summary of the imported model.

Note: If you want to stop the import process, click on the Stop button and then click on the Yes button. CopyCAD stops the import process, but you must delete the model containing the points that have already been imported, which is displayed in the CopyCAD Explorer.

6. Click on the Done! button to close the Wizard and display the points model in the Graphics window.
